Day 12

August 19, 2024

Travel day from Loveland, CO to Manitou Springs, CO.

Started the day at Benson Sculpture Garden in Loveland, CO. Beautiful garden to walk around in (and take photographs, which can be seen at the bottom of this post). I took photographs of maybe half the sculptures in the garden. It would have taken all day to photograph every one of them. We stayed at the sculpture garden for about an hour and a half, to ensure most of the people in Denver would have gotten to work by the time we got there.

I think, based on the traffic when we drove through Denver, there are a lot of unemployed people who live there and drive around all day in their cars, clogging up the highways.

Stopped in south Denver to meet a friend at a Starbucks. It was a nice Starbucks … they had coffee… 🙂

We had our daily meal at Costa Vida in Colorado Springs, around the corner from the Air Force Academy, which promised fresh Mexican food. It was fresh and it was good!

Arrived in Manitou Springs around 4PM and found our accommodations for two nights, in a place called Hobbit Hole. It is the ground floor under a house and it is about the size of a large bedroom, all decked out in Hobbit graphics. Comes complete with everything we need for our stay, believe it or not — and it does not feel cramped at all, surprisingly.

Thanks for reading.
