Day 7

August 14. 2024

Another day in the books. Nothing much of “travelogue” interest, but here I am, trying to build the habit of being here, writing this, after waking up for the next day.

We tried to go to Coney Island Lunch Room for lunch, but it was closed for vacation. So we went to Lee’s Family Restaurant. The food was good and all the staff were very pleasant. I highly recommend the meat omelet. even though recommending something called a “meat omelet” makes me feel a bit like a cave man or something…

Mmmmm… MEAT….. Good!

But I digress…

After we ate, we went to The Tattered Book. a used book store. Not that I need any more books, quite the opposite actually. However, it is a (mostly) harmless addiction. I bought five books. It was six, but I decided I really didn’t need the writing book that weighed about five pounds. After all, we are at the beginning of our trip. Unfortunately, I am already regretting not getting it and may have to go up there today and see if it is still there…

Speaking of habits, perhaps you, like myself, have been told it takes 21 days to make a habit. Seems like a reasonable amount of time for a change in life for the better. I know I have tried to add positive habits to my life, striving to hit the 21-day goal.

Too bad it is a myth, this 21-day rule. According to sites on the Internet (and we all know that if it is on the Internet, it is true), it takes an average of 66 days to make a habit AND it can take up to 254 days. Therefore it is probable that I am wasting my time trying to make this morning writing habit, but I’m not doing anything else much at the moment, so I will carry on.

I assume y’all will be happy to learn that we are hitting the road tomorrow, travelling to Loveland, Colorado, where we will be residing for the weekend. Then, on Tuesday, the trip will kick into high gear with a ride up the cog railway to the top of Pike’s Peak. You might want to hang around to see photos of that. I know I am looking forward to it!

Thanks for reading.

Kevin
